In 2017, a peer-reviewed open-label human study published by Dr. P. R. Raghavan explored whether Metadichol®—the active ingredient in NANO SOMA®—could help the body maintain higher Vitamin C levels without supplementation. Read the full article here.
The Context: Humans and Vitamin C
Most animals make their own Vitamin C naturally every day. This occurs as part of their natural metabolic process, with Vitamin C synthesis occurring in the liver – or in the kidneys for some – automatically.
In this process, the body starts with glucose. Then, through a multi-step enzyme-driven process, this glucose is converted into ascorbic acid, or, Vitamin C.
The last and most crucial step in this process is performed by an enzyme called L-gulonolactone oxidase (GULO).
- In species that produce Vitamin C, their GULO gene is active.
- In species like humans, guinea pigs, and certain bats, the GULO gene is present but dormant. This means that this final step cannot be completed, and the pathway stops before Vitamin C is made.
Because the GULO gene is inactive in humans, we don’t currently produce our own Vitamin C. This means that we rely entirely on diet or supplements for this crucial antioxidant. In contrast, Vitamin C-producing animals can ramp up their production dramatically – sometimes 100× more than their usual amount – when faced with infection or injury, allowing for a rapid immune and repair response when needed.
This study examines whether Metadichol® (the patented name for NANO SOMA®) can prompt the body to maintain and create higher levels of Vitamin C in the body – without taking any external supplements or participating in dietary restrictions.
Study Overview
- Type: Open-label trial (participants knew they were taking Metadichol®; no placebo group)
- Participants: 27 adults of various ages completed per protocol, with an average of three co-morbidities
- Usage: Daily NANO SOMA® for 90 days
- Measurements: Blood Vitamin C levels and other metabolic markers before and after usage
What the Researchers Found
Participants showed remarkable increases in Vitamin C:
- Most: 3–4× higher blood Vitamin C levels
- Some: up to 12× higher than baseline
- No external Vitamin C supplements were taken during the trial
Other measurable changes included:
- More balanced thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)
- Healthier fasting glucose levels
- Improvements in body fat percentage and bone mass
- More optimal sodium and creatinine levels
- Normalization of red cell distribution width (RDW)
Even a low daily usage of ~5 mg was associated with notable shifts. In addition, all participants reported a higher quality of life and an experienced improvement of their respective health concerns.
How It Could Work?
In the study’s final discussion, Dr. Raghavan offers a few intriguing explanations for how Metadichol® might be elevating Vitamin C internally, without external supplementation. He suggests:
- It could wake up dormant metabolic routes, like reactivating the GULO gene, which is currently dormant in humans.
- It may raise levels of glutathione – an antioxidant that helps recycle Vitamin C in the body.
- It may optimize antioxidant systems overall, helping the body preserve and reuse Vitamin C more effectively than through external supplementation alone.
Why This Matters
Regardless of the mechanism, these results suggest that Metadichol® (NANO SOMA®) can help the body hold on to and make better use of its own (endogenous) Vitamin C – the kind produced or restored inside the body, rather than taken in supplements. This is a fascinating and unique outcome in the health supplement world: NANO SOMA is not providing the Vitamin C, but encouraging the body to use its own Vitamin C pathways more efficiently.*
This exceptional possibility provides a host of benefits. Similar to how Vitamin C-producing animals can boost their own levels when needed, this enhanced ability to produce and recycle this important nutrient means that the human body is better equipped to respond to external stressors. As the study showed, most experienced 3-4x higher baseline levels of Vitamin C after 90 days, with some up to 12x higher!
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. It can help neutralize free radicals that can damage cells; it’s essential for building collagen – the protein that keeps skin, joints, blood vessels, and connective tissues strong and resilient; it helps supports the immune system’s daily functions, and more. By supporting the body’s process to produce higher levels as needed, we can powerfully boost our health and wellness – without relying on the limitations of external supplementation.
This is a powerful finding and study by Dr. Raghavan, and a great explanation for why the MagicDichol® Family of Products can prompt such unique health outcomes with consistent use.*
